Ah yeah... that feels good.

I love the achievement system implemented by Microsoft on their Xbox 360 and Sony on their Playstation 3.  The instant gratification of the "pop" and the successive score of a minute 5G is what any gamer can say is the reason they keep going.  There are so many easy achievements but there are also impossibly difficult ones.  This subject matter intrigues me so much that I've decided to document my journey on the quest for this never-ending total.

The quest begins with Gears of War 3.
Yeah... Seriously.  3.0.
Probably not the best idea.

SO I want Seriously 3.0.  I kinda want it bad because I actually like playing Gears now online now that I can actually compete with dedicated servers.  I know that once I get the momentum rolling, I will eventually achieve that goal hopefully in 2012.  It's a project, I know.

For those that don't know, this individual achievement involves reaching the highest possible level in the game and earning the highest possible medal for... just about everything else.  To earn these Onyx Medals, you need to complete such feats as killing 6000 enemies in online multiplayer.  With every weapon.  Also, there are 65 of these medals to attain.

As of this day, December 15, 2011, I am level 70 in multiplayer and have earned 4 Onyx Medals: Squad Leader (be the top player in a Horde round 500 times), Field Engineer (1000 Horde-mode fortification mods), Loot Courtesan (Complete 100 Horde-mode challenges), and I'm a Beast! (Completing Beast mode without failing on Insane.)

Currently Working on:
Gears of War 3: Seriously 3.0
Working towards:

  • "Tour of Duty" Medal - Onyx medal requires Insane mode campaign-completion
  • "Battle Mistress" Medal - Currently at Silver, have 164/500 matches played as a female for Gold.
  • "TDM" Medal - Currently at Silver, have 217/300 matches played in Team Deathmatch for Gold.
  • "Active Reloader" Medal - Currently only at Bronze, literally need 24 active reloads for Silver.  Going to do that now.
Gears of War 3: That's Just Crazy - Complete all campaign acts on Insane difficulty

This one shouldn't be too bad... I'm currently through Act II with my friend.  I realize I'm a little slow to get this one compared to my Gears compadres, but this semester was hard and you can lay off me. :[

Gears of War 3: RAAM's Shadow DLC - Various Achievements

Need to complete 1 chapter in arcade mode for "Help From My Friends"; Need 16 more kills with the Hammer of Dawn for "Death From Above"; 3 more multiplayer matches played for "Ghosts from the Past"; and 8 more Locust killed from the Loader for "Unarmed and Dangerous."

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - All achievements

Who could forget Skyrim?  And who isn't playing this game right now?  I have a level 40 Imperial and I'm halfway through the main story line, stopping to smell every single goddamn rose along the way.  The game is beautiful, the game is addicting, and the game will provide hours upon hours of gameplay.

I'm currently in the middle of the Thieve's Guild quests, hoping to earn the correlating achievement.  I've just earned the "Thief" achievement and I'm currently working towards "Golden Touch" (have 100,000 Gold) and "Delver" (Clear 50 Dungeons).

Pretty much my life.  My one-handed is over 70 though.

So this is it.  I'm fairly sure I can think of some new features to add into this, but those will come.  I am going to make an update every Tuesday and Friday to spread the joy on what achievements I've earned this week and whatnot.  I think I'm going to enjoy this.
