Wrong Day Update: Thursday Edition

Hey audience.  So sorry I didn't update on Tuesday nor will I update tomorrow.  But who the fuck cares?  No one reads this blog but me.

This week was part of the Twelve Days of Gearsmas, with a different event everyday and Epic offering two credits towards the War Supporter achievement.  Well that's all I earned was two.  Maybe there were more.  Fuck if I know.  Epic also release the details of the new DLC that will be dropped in January.  So I'm pretty psyched.  In addition, I took advantage of GameStop's deal on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, taking ten dollars off in-store and then another ten dollars off for 10,000 rewards points and then another x% for my ProRewards membership.  Nice little deal.

The reason I haven't updated is because.... I'm at my grandmother's house.  Their internet is slow at best, prevents me from playing on Live and forces me to use my 3G data plan on my phone.  Oh well...

I don't remember what my point total was when I started this week.  From now on, I am going to record my gamerscore on Friday mornings and then check my total gain for that week.  Considering I only have three to four games I'm currently working on at the moment and oh yeah it's Christmas, it shouldn't go up that much.  For the record, I currently sit at: 43,750.

For starters, this week I earned the Ghosts from the Past achievement in Gears of War 3 for a whopping 15G.  This one was simple: played ten matches as a member of Zeta Squad, unlocked by the RAAM's Shadow DLC.  It was easy to get while playing the Gearsmas "Can You Dig It?" playlist - all digger launchers in a single round game.  It took a while, as I got stuck playing as Myrrah half the fucking time.  Oh well, points toward Battle Mistress...

In terms of Seriously 3.0, I've made about half the campaign's worth of progress on Insane difficulty and arcade mode, so there are two more Onyx medals in the works.  I also hit milestones in multiplayer - 2500 perfect active reloads for a Silver medal and 100 Gnasher shotgun kills for a Bronze medal.  I know.... I'm way behind the curve there.  I use the Retro Lancer and Sawed-Off... people hate me.

In Skyrim, I got down and dirty in terms of achievement requirements.

  • Wanted - 10G - Break out of jail.  Save game, break law, surrender to authorities, pick lock, run.  Badink!
  • Skill Master - 40G - This one was a work in the making.  For this, you needed to get any skill to the rank of 100.  For me and probably anyone else playing this game, you did Smithing for that Dragon Armor.  This achievement is a little strange, however, as smithing literally anything gives you the same amount of experience.  For example, a cheap-ass Iron Dagger is evidently just as difficult to make as a Dwarven Battle Axe.
  • Delver - 40G - Clear 50 dungeons.  I was surprised this was actually an achievement.  It seems pretty clear cut to me in terms of RPGs: See cave, enter cave, kill things, get treasure.  Repeat 50 times.  Quest may or may not be included.  Only available at participating locations.  Must be 18 years of age or older to enter.
Also included this week were 21 achievements from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 totaling 255G.  While I'm not going to list all of them (as they were primarily campaign related), I did earn these:
  • Jack the Ripper - 20G - Melee 5 enemies in a row in Single Player or Special Ops.
  • Informant - 20G - Found 22 pieces of enemy intel.  Which I did all by myself thank you very much.  It's hard not to use a guide for these kinds of achievements.
  • Menage a Trois - 20G - Destroy 3 tanks with a single 105mm shot in "Iron Lady."
  • Kill Box - 20G - Kill 20 enemies in a single Chopper Gunner run on "Return to Sender."
  • For Whom the Shell Tolls - 20G - Kill all enemies with 4 mortar shells on "Back On The Grid."
Soooo that's basically it for this week.  I'm starting to get a better idea as to how to lay each post out but I'll probably just change it again during the next post.

But my cousin's neurotic puppy is crying again, so I should probably cuddle her to sleep.  Goodnight, audience.  May your Christmas be merry and your eggnog never empty.
