So... its been Christmastime. Wanna know what I got? You don't care? Well I'm going to tell you anyway. This year I got myself a nice pair of SkullCandy G.I. headphones that cancel out all sound and have some nice bass. Great for losing myself in dubstep in case I get stoned...somehow... Also, I got a bookshelf that I needed to put together myself. For some reason, the magnet keeping the doors from swinging open doesn't work... so I put a bottle of Crown Royal in front of the doors. Problem solved.
So anyways. Achievements have been scarce lately and they are only going to get scarcier. Mainly I've been playing Modern Warfare 3 online... more on that later. But, as far as achievements go, I've been playing Modern Warfare 3, Gears of War 3, and Skyrim. Big surprise. Here we go.
We will start with the least important minor achievements that rewarded me with no points. This week(s) in Gears 3 I earned:
- Ruthless Silver Medal: I killed 325 humans in Beast Mode. My cousin and I did work as the Locust over Christmas.
- High Roller Bronze Medal: Unlock a "Ready For The Heavies" ribbon 5 times. This is done by getting to the final tier of the Beast Mode beasties.
- Dismantler Silver Medal: I destroyed 500 human fortifications for this medal. It's really quite easy to do when you use the Beserker.
Moving right along to Skyrim, I decided I was going to work on the main questline a little bit as Markarth is glitched for me and I didn't really want to do anything else.
- Dragon Hunter - 20G - Absorbed 20 dragon souls. Its hard to believe I got this one because it hasn't seemed like I've actually killed 20 dragons. But with the amount of exploring I do, it seems about right.
- Words of Power - 10G - Unlocked for learning all three words of one Dragon Shout. I realize it took me forever, because going to the Greybeards is like... the first quest.
- Golden Touch - 30G - Have 100,000 gold. Fairly straightforward. No special requirements, no real strategies... just get rich or die/load/try again.
- Gatekeeper - 10G - Gained entrance to the Mages College at Winterhold. Pretty easy if you ask me. It's quest related and it's given to you right a-freakin-way.
Modern Warfare 3 slowly took over my life starting Christmas Eve. My cousin and I got bored of Beast Mode and threw in Call of Duty to try out the Survival Mode. Then I reaped the fruits of my labor:
- I Live - 10G - Survive a wave on Survival. Excuse me? Who doesn't have this? This is the easiest one in the game besides watching the opening cinematic. IW is practically giving achievement points away.
- Get Rich or Die Trying - 25G - Have a balance of $50,000 in a Survival Mode game. I just didn't buy anything and survived on enemies' ammo.
- Birdie - 20G - Kill two helicopters without getting hit in a Survival Mode Game. My cousin was the decoy and I was the finisher. Hey Infinity Ward, how the fuck do you kill a helicopter?
- Serrated Edge - 15G - Kill a juggernaut with a knife attack. This one was annoying because my cousin did it about five or six times in a row before I even got it once. But it's hella funny when you melee and stun them, then run around to the other side and stun them again. They catch up eventually... but its funny.
That's all I earned between Christmas Eve and now. On the last update, my gamerscore stood at 43,750. Today, a Wednesday almost two weeks later, I stand strong at 43,890. A whopping 140G boost. Go me.
Seeing as how this is the first post of the New Year, Happy New Year to everyone going out of their way to read about a white boy's video games. I'm sure you all had a Merry Christmas and Kwanzaa and Hannukah.
So peace out! Also I got a haircut.
