So like any good and dedicated fan boy, I went to my local GameStop at midnight after reserving my copy and Collector's Edition Guide and sped home to throw it in. Much to my dismay... my character saves from Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 were nonexistent.
Turns out, the data "transfer" that I did to move all my data to my shiny new Gears of War Limited Edition Xbox.... didn't totally work. It was more like a data "trans-meh."
So I just sucked it up and started a new character from scratch. This can't be too hard, right? First things I noticed:
- Why is Udina still on the fucking council?
- Why doesn't this reporter bitch remember the conversations we had in the first game?
- Who is this Latino guy on my ship? He looks like that cool human guy from the first Matrix.
- Normandy is back to ugly again. I'm sure she will be beautiful once I get used to this.
- I can MELEE?
- Awh damn guurl! Hold my earrings! Liara's in da howse!
I really want my character.
So I did what any dedicated fanboy would do: I started over. Back to the time where there was no human Spectre.
Day 1: Wednesday.
Great. So I've decided to start using a new character. What class should I use? Alright, I'm cheating. I used my Mass Effect 3 Collector's Edition guide and decided on an Infiltrator. Tech Powers are the shit, plus since I've beaten the game before I could choose a bonus skill... Assault Rifles. So I've got a tech power-throwing tank.
I never cared much for biotics anyway.
Day 2: Thursday.
A couple hours in an I'm almost level 20. Citadel is done, got Liara, found some new dialogue with Ashley I had never seen before. It was a good day. Now that I look at it, I'm level 26 already.
Also just bought the second-best Assault Rifle in the entire game at level 27. Is there someone from Bioware to tell me that I'm too good at this shit?
I've boosted my gamerscore to 42,295G. Now that's not great considering how long I have had this account, but let's break that down:
- Started it just after I graduated high school in 2008.
- Joined a Halo 3 clan (Disciples of Gaming/Chaos Gaming)
- Left said clan
- Left to go to a real college, now taking 400-level classes
- Working 30 hours per week
- New girlfriend, 9 months today
Peace.
